PCI- PXI8330 not getting detected in i3 Computer

Hi,

We use the PCI-PXI8330 MXI3 kit for interfacing PC to our PXI chasis. So far we were using only Pentium D and dual core based systems and we had never faced any issues. We are currently upgrading our computers for one new project. We bought a I3-2100 (a second generation )processor based system with intel original DH67CL mother board.

1. When we plug in the PCI 8330 card and boot the system, system boots properly but doesn't identify this board. The device manager is not showing up this board.

2. When we connect our chasis and boot, system beeps 3 times and shutsdown.

We actually tested in one of our Dell  (Optliplex 980 model ) with first generation i3 550 @3.2GHZ and it works fine.

Can anybody suggest us the possible way to solve this issue?

Thanks and Best Regards

Sathish

Hi Sathish,

Are you using the same version of the PXI Platform Services on each computer, and are they all running the same operating system? A lot of times this does come down to MXI compatibility with the hardware itself, but I want to eliminate any possible software differences that could cause this just incase.

When you say the card doesn't show in device manager is it showing up as an unknown device or is there nothing showing in device manager that you can link to the 8330? Do you see any error messages at the BIOS screen or anywhere else during the boot process?

Could you also try the PCI card in a different slot if this isn't something you have done already? Also, could you remove all of the PXI cards from the chassis to eliminate the possibility that a bad card on that end is throwing interference? This is unlikely since it's working in the other machines but should be simple enough to check.

Another thing that would be helpful would be to generate a MAX Technical Report from both i3 systems so we can try to compare them more one to one. A lot of the things I mentioned here are duplicated in the MXI-3 and MXI-4 Troubleshooting Guide but it wouldn't hurt to explicitly go through the steps listed for Problems 2 and 3 there.

Regards,

Peter W.
