Using PXI-5412 with the example Fgen 5404 Sine Generation.vi, an error occurs.

Try using the FGEN Basic Standard Function.vi shipping example instead. The 5412 can operate in either Arbitrary Waveform Mode or Standard Function Mode and this VI makes a call to put it into Standard mode.
