PXI-6236 detection

Hallo all,

A card for data acquisition (PXI-6236, M series) could not be detected in a PXI-system (1031, labview 8.6) using MAX software (version. 4.5). Another software (http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/epd/p/id/5017)  gives no resutl.

Has any body a solution?.

Best Regards

Hello al_ibr,

Thanks for posting on NI forum.

You should be able to detect you board in MAX, which version of NI-DAQmx did you install on your system? Try to repair it using Windows tools. Did you try to plug your card in another slot? Finally, can you generate the MAX report of your system?

Hello Benjamin,

Many thanks for your response. The version of  NI-DAQmx  is 8.7.2. This problem is happened last time. We have before the correct configuration (see the attached old_configuration_PXI  file). I tried to reconfigure the both remote PXI systems, but it does not work. The required MAX report for the main system and the remote systems (PXI) are attached. Can you give me more information about windows tools for repairing the NI-DAQmx?.  Should I install  or re-import it again?. I thought that maybe I should remove the slots and put them again, but I did not test it till now. I will try to do it as soon as possible.

Hello,

It seems your PXI controller is under LabVIEW RT 8.6, so you should reinstall your PXI controller. To do so shut down the PXI system and remove all the board in it, then in MAX right click on the on Software under your PXI system and install LabVIEW RT 8.6 with the entire driver you need. Then detect again your PXI system in MAX and indentify it. Finally shut down the PXI and install your boards and start it, you should be able to see you boards under you PXI system in MAX. Finally, in your LabVIEW project create a blank VI under your RT controller and you will be access to the IO of your cards.

Feel free if you have any question.

Hello Benjamin,

Many thanks for your help. I will try to do it as soon as possible. Is there any reason why the configuration in PXI are changed as we did not change any thing on it?.

Hi Benjamin,

Should I remove even the PXI 8104 card (embedded controller)?. Addiotnally I suppose the card with Ethernet  has to be inside (not removed)  to still get contact with MAX.

I have now another problem that I lose connection with MAX with one PXI (some software are corruptted). How I can get it connected now with MAX again to do the reinstallation  process?. I read some information that I should reboot it with a usb floppy disk, but I do not have this floppy disk now. Is there any possibility  to boot up the PXI without this usb floppy disk (e.g. though serial interface or using normal usb card)?

Hi al_ibr,

You should be able to recover your system folowing this link. Moreover, you should be able to boot your system in Safe Mode, refer to the PXI-8104 User Manual.Start the Setup Menu and the navigate to boot optio>>LabVIEW RT Safe Mode.

Hi Benjami,

Thanks again for the help. I got now the connection with PXI (in safe mode). I did the reinstall process which you told me, but for only one card (for test purpose). I remove one card (PXI-6236), after that I reinstall all software in the PXI. I put again the removed card and restart the system. MAX does not show this card. Should I remove all the cards (even the PXI-8104 ) and do the same (including the identification of the PXI).

Hi Al-Salami,

You cannot remove the PXI-8104 which is your controller!! One other thing you can try is to plug your card in another chassis and check if it works.

If not,it seems you have some trouble with your card, please contact the NI Support of your country and tell then you already formated and reinstalled your controller but your card is still not shown in MAX.
