PXI-6602 Not Visible in Chassis

My PXI-6602 card does not show up in slot2 of my chassis in the MAX solfware.
I have tried un-installing NI-DAQ and then re-installing NI-DAQ without the 6602 card installed.
When I reinstall the 6602 it does show up in the NI-DAQmx Devices but not the chassis.
Please see the attached screen print.

System:
PXI-1031 CHASSIS
PXI-8184 SLOT 1
PXI-6602 SLOT 2

Software:
WinXP
NI-DAQ 7.5

Look under the "Remote Systems". I noticed the same thing in my project...the chassis and controller show up but not the slots.

Task,
Thanks for your response, ours does not show up in the "Remote Systems".   Do your cards work properly when they show only in the "Remote Systems"?

I'm just starting to work with it but so far it seems to work ok. I'm new to the RT stuff so there's a learning curve going on. I don't remember if I had to somehow search for it under "Remote Systems" or not. Have you fired up the PXI-8184 with it's own monitor and keyboard? There are some setup issues with that. I found all that info in the knowledgebase. It's been awhile since I first fired it up so I cannot remember the sequence of events!

Blspi

Thank you for using our discussion forums.

Is the PXI-6602 working properly? For instance can you successfully perform a self test or open test panels?  Can you ensure that you have NI-VISA installed and follow the 4 steps under requirements in the linked Knowledge Base article.

 Programmatic PXI Slot Detection

Once this has been detected, your PXI module should be detected in the PXI system with a VISA resource name.

Hi,

Try right-clicking on the PXI System and select Show All Buses.  When you expand the PXI buses that appear, you should see the 6602 in one of them.  Right-click on the PXI Bus that shows the 6602, and select Identify as a PXI Chassis.  This will create a chassis that appears as Chassis (Unidentified).  Right-click Chassis (Unidentified) and select Identify as » PXI-1031.

Unless you're running a Real-Time operating system, your PXI System will not appear under Remote Systems.  I hope this helps!

blspi,

Your system is working correctly, as it looks like your DAQ device shows up correctly with the right chassis and slot number.  Unfortunately, devices in a PXI or PXIe chassis in MAX are currently populated by NI-VISA.  Since you don't have NI-VISA installed, none of your PXI devices will show up underneath a chassis.  Having the VISA runtime is not enough - it must be the full NI-VISA installation.  The same is true for RT systems underneath Remote Systems.

Thank you KurtN!

The NI-VISA was the solution.
