PXI-8330 locking up... causes/recovery?

I have a PXI-8330 MXI-3 slot 0 interface connecting my controller computer to my 6-slot PXI chassis (PXI-1002).  In the PXI chassis I have a PXI-6551 Digital I/O card and a Geotest switch card.  Occassionally the PXI chassis will lock up with the PWR and LNK leds solid green, the TX led solid yellow, and the RX led off.  When it gets into this state the only option I know of to reset it is to cycle power on the chassis, which also requires me to reboot the computer.  Also, when the host computer is rebooted after this occurs it generally will shutdown and not restart, forcing a hard reboot.  The host computer is running Windows 2000, NI MAX 3.1, and NI-VISA 3.0.0f5.

I have two questions, really:

1)  What are the possible causes that could put the chassis into this state?  Specifically I'm looking for things I should be looking for in my test software that could be causing conflicts with the chassis to put it in this state.

2)  Are there any other options on resetting the PXI chassis, or slot 0 card, once it gets into this state, other than cycling power and forcing a restart?
