is it possible to run/control a PXI Instrument (residing in a NI PXI Chassis with embedded controller) via soft panel from an external pc over an ethernet connection?
setup: External Windows PC connects to embedded controller in PXI chassis via ethernet (PXI card resides in same PXI chassis as embedded controller)

Hi JMU_ISAT,
It is possible to use Ethernet to remotely control your embedded controller and use the Soft Front Panel functionality. This KnowledgeBase article on remoting in, walks you through that process.
However, if it is your goal to have the external PC controlling the chassis, you will need to use a MXI module in place of the embedded controller to connect the external PC using the MXI interface. The PXI Controllers section of the What is PXI? tutorial goes into more detail about MXI.
