Slot path

When I swap one M series DAQ card for another in the same chassis, the MAX configuration appears to remain with the slot (Device alias, external calibration settings).  That's great, but I notice that the PXI slot path seems to follow the cards.

For example:

PXI6281#1 (ANALOG) in slot 7: 12.0,0.0,5.0,0.0,9.0,0.0,1.0

PXI6281#2 (ANALOG_SPARE) in slot 8: 13.0,0.0,5.0,0.0,9.0,0.0,1.0

If I swap the two cards and without changing anything else:

PXI6281#2 (ANALOG) in slot 7: 13.0,0.0,5.0,0.0,9.0,0.0,1.0

PXI6281#1 (ANALOG_SPARE) in slot 8: 12.0,0.0,5.0,0.0,9.0,0.0,1.0

Is this anything I need to worry about?  Or are the slot paths arbitrary and not tied to specific PXI physical slots?

Thanks,

Hi @xl600,

The slot paths in the device names are assigned when first found in NI MAX. If the names are unchanged after swapping, there may not have been a naming conflict to initiate a change.

If you look at the Slot Number in Settings for each card, does it switch from 7 to 8 & 8 to 7 as it should? You may just need to update the aliases after switching the cards in the chassis.
