Hello all,
I have a PXI system (PXI-1045 chassis with PXI-8360 board)
In the PC I have PCIe-8361 which is discontinued and the successor is PCIE-8363.
My question would be: Will PCIe-8363 work with the PXI-8360 ?
Thank you
Have a nice day,
Raul

Hi Raul,
From a hardware perspective, the PCIe-8363 is a drop in replacement for the PCIe-8361 and will be able to connect to the PXI-1045 chassis. The only thing to keep in mind is that you may need to update the PXI Platform Services driver to 2022Q4 or newer. Newer hardware requires newer drivers. PXI Platform Service 2022Q4 is only supported on Win10 and Win11, so if you're using Win7, you'll need to consider updating the system.

Why it's a drop? It's a newer board.
For the moment I'm using windows 11 with Labview 2015. Until now everything works as expected.

Sorry for the jargon - "Drop in replacement" just means remove the PCIe-8361 and install the PCIe-8363 in its place. The 8363 will use the same cable and connects to the same chassis.
For Win11, I'm glad to hear that LabVIEW 2015 is working for you, but you might want to consider updating that. The first version of LabVIEW we tested with Win11 was 2022Q3. I'm not saying version 2015 won't work, we just didn't validate that software version with that OS.

Hi, today I received the card and everything is working as expected, without upgrading driver. Thanks for the help

Hi roots_
can you please share what was your driver version?

Hmm, we are using Labview 15.5.
If I check device manager for PCI-8360 I have the following driver version: 15.0.0.49152
Let me know if you have further questions.

Thanks for your reply.
Your boards should be leveraging the PXI Platform Services driver.
Could you please double check your driver version in NI MAX to see if it is 15.0?
It is visible by opening NI MAX -> Software
Find reference in the following pic (mine is 2024 Q3)
