Test Stand Engine does neither uninstall nor reinstall

Because of problems with the Calibration Executive software I uninstalled the package and now tried to reinstall it on my Win98 system. When the installation is finished Calibration Executive aborts with an "unknown error"-message. I figured out, that it might be a missing TestStand Runtime, because when I try to uninstall the CalEx-software again TestStand engine can't neither be removed nor reinstalled by the Control Panel - Add/ Remove Software tool. TestStand Engine is listed but uninstalling fails because of a missing log file. The reinstallation of the TestStand Engine Runtime after Calibration Executive has installed also aborts with an "Drive 0 bytes of space remaining. The TestStand Engine requires at least 342
1097 bytes bytes of space. Setup will not continue."-prompt.

How can I force TestStand Engine to be uninstalled, to correctly reinstall it afterwards?

I appreciate your quick help, because we cannot use the PXI-system to calibrate our equipment and all customer's devices.

Philip,

You might want to check the KB titled "TestStand Engine Installation Gives Error: Could Not Create Temporary File, No Space Left on Device":
http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/46F99E55650D8D5B86256AC00059018E?OpenDocument

This might help you with the installation of the TestStand engine. If that doesn't work, you could reply here giving a little more details:
a) Which log file is the one missing?
b) Which kind of problems you were facing before uninstalling Calibration Executive?
c) Was the first Cal. Executive installation working? For how long?
d) Does this happen in only one system or have you tried it in several systems?

The last thing you could try is deleting the entries in the Windows Registry if you can't uninstall suc
cessfuly. If you decide to go this way, remember to keep a back up of the registry file just in case!
