Hi,
I'm looking for information on how to trigger 2 PXIe-4081 devices in a chassis. I wish to trigger them to start at same point. I don't see much info on this in the manual or information as to what triggers the 4081 can use.
Thanks,

Hi
Here is a list of triggers available to the PXIe-408x series.
https://www.ni.com/docs/en-US/bundle/ni-dmm/page/labview-trigger-routing.html
Also here is a post on how to synchronise two 408x if needed.

Hopefully this will be of some help.
Best regards
Andreas

Hi Andreas,
How are the lines PXI Trigger Line[0:7] physically accessible? Do I need other hardware to provide so send a trigger to these lines?
Thanks,

Hi.
I'm not sure why you would need the lines physically accessible? But, they will be accessible on the back-plate of your chassis.
The lines is usually triggered by your PXI-controller and your Labview application.
If you're uncertain on how this works, i recommend this guide.
Kind regards

Hi Andreas,
I need this to be somehow accessible to be able to provide a trigger signal to these DMM. This would be available on most DMM's (including the PXI-4071), where they can be externally triggered to acquire. I have a system that will provide a pulse, on that pulse I wish to measure two signals at precisely the same time with 2x 4081 DMMs in a chassis.
As the triggers in this case are only accessible through the back plate how can I trigger them together? For a start I would be ok with sending a signal from another PXI instrument to a least trigger both instruments together, from the NI DMM I only see options to trigger from Ext Trig or TTL which aren't available on the front of the 4081 as they are on the front of the 4071. So if I route a signal from another instrument how do I pick these up? e.g. if I was to export a signal from an FGEN could I use this as a trigger for a 4081?
Please advise.

This might be too late, but yes you need to have an external hardware. @Andreas, you cannot directly trigger the PXI TTL Backplane lines directly with a controller, you need to provide an external trigger to the controller which then triggers the DMM's.
