Upgrading PXI controller cause problem in vi?

We are using PXI-8156B (penthium 266Mhz) with pxi chassi PXI-1000B since year 2000 (running on Windows NT). We are looking for buying a new station to run an extra production cell. Of course, there is no PXI8156B left (too old i imagine). I have already experience problem of communication (with an aquisition card) when we were using Labview on a PC upgraded from 486 to Penthium 100. The same VI wasn't working on Penthium 100 and was still working on 486.

Now, I would like to know if someone experience problem when they upgraded their controller.
Because if there is a chance of having problem, i'll reserve myself a longer period of time to check everything before lauching the new production cell.

thanks

Do you know what type of failure you had when moving to the P100? Were you able to communicate with the device through MAX or T&M Explorer (at the time). I don't know what the structure of the VI was but it was likely another change in the system that broke the VI. I don't see how you would lose functionality moving to a more recent controller. It is probably the initial setup that is generating issues. If you are using DAQ or GPIB, I'd recommend posting to those forums with any particular failures you were having. The problem is likely configuration on that end.

If I remember right, the problem was with the serial communication of the PC. I had to put alot of "wait time" in the VI in order to be able to talk properly on the serial port. Like if the P100 was to fast.

You could continue to have problems with timing when moving to a faster controller. These timing problems may need to be addressed but I can't imagine them being a significant handicap. These problems are usually restricted to instrument communication that requires delays (similar to the ones you used to resolve your original port). I imagine you would have more to gain from the speed bump.

If this is the only problem I can encounter, I can live with it easily.

Thank you for your time
