Using Laptop hard disk with PXI

I would like to use a 30 GB 2.5" laptop hard disk with a PXI controller. Has anyone tried using a different hard disk with the PXI (other than the one supplied with the controller)

What type of controller you have? Is it a PXI-8156B, PXI-8170, PXI-8176, other?

In theory you could use any 2.5" hard-drive. See KnowledgeBase linked below:

However, I would first check the manual of the hard-drive to see what does it require.

I am currently using a laptop 3.5GB in a PXI 8156 controller without problems, you will lose the image and drivers obviously but I found all that I needed on the NI site.
