Why am I having trouble controlling a Pickering RTD simulation board?

I am using a Pickering precision resistance simulation PXI card.  The card came with Labview VI's, but control of the card is intermittant.  When the card doesn't work I get a Card Disabled error message.  Has anyone else used these cards and have you had any problems controlling the card?  Thanks.

Hello,

Do you have a model number for the Pickering card? Also, where did you obtain the LabVIEW VIs for the card? I didn't see anything on our instrument driver network related to this card, so did Pickering provide them?

Hello Justin,

It is a Pickering 40-262-10 Six Channel RTD simulator card.  Pickering provided the VI's which I believe are available for downlowad from thier website.

Hey epsilon-delta,

Is the Card Disabled error message returned from one of the VIs that Pickering provides? It looks like Pickering also provides a test panel for some basic communication, so I'd recommend trying to use that to communicate and see if you get any errors there. You will probably want to talk with Pickering about this issue as well, as it might be an issue with their software/hardware

The card disabled error message comes from the Pickering VI.  I have used the Soft Front Panel to control the card successfully.  But when I click on Connect or Status, I get a hardware loop 6 error message.  I click OK and the card works just fine, is fully controllable.  But when using the VI's I can only control the card intermittently.  The puzzling thing is that Pickering has tried the card in several of their PXI systems and no errors of any kind show up.  I am wondering if there could be something about the way I have my PXI system or LabVIEW set up?.

Hey epsilon-delta,

I don't think there are any issues with the way LabVIEW is set up, but there might be something wrong with your PXI system. What PXI chassis do you have, and what controller are you using? Also, what other modules do you have in your system? If you're using a National Instruments chassis/controller, are you able to see it correctly in Measurement and Automation Explorer? One thing you might want to try is moving the Pickering card to a different slot in the chassis.

Since the errors are coming from the Pickering VIs, you might want to ask them exactly what those messages mean
