Why can't I see my PXI chassis from a remote computer?

Solved!
Go to solution

I have a PXIe-8130 controller and PXIe-1062Q chassis. I want to add the PXI chassis as a target in my LabView RT project that is on a remote desktop. However, LabView can't detect the PXI target and neither can NI MAX.

I can see the PXI on my network and can ping it.

What am I missing?

I figured out to set the controller to boot RT instead of Windows XP. So, now I can see the remote PXI in NI MAX but I can't set the IP address using DHCP. It says Unconfigured. The display I have connected to the PXI controller also shows "System State: Unconfigured".

On the back of the controller, there's an IP Reset switch in addition to the Boot RT switch. Do you have the IP Reset turned to ON? To obtain the IP from your DHCP server, you'll need that switch turned on. "System State: Unconfigured" just means that software hasn't been added to the controller yet.

The reset IP was not ON. I have turned it ON and still do not get any DHCP addresses to show up in NI MAX when I select "Obtain an IP address automatically"

Everything is still at 0.0.0.0

Hi kcponyman,

If you are in IP Reset mode and change the IP Settings, such as designating it to Obtain an IP address automatically, those changes will take effect when you cycle the power. So once you select that option, reset the device and the IP address should be set automatically.

If this does not work, are you able to statically define the IP address?
