I have changed computers and cant get MAX to recognize PXI 6259.
The new machine is running XP.
MAX will find the PXI controller as External PC
Will find the PXI Bridge as MXI 04
Will find the PXI Chassis as PXI 1036
But will not find the two PXI 6259 cards plugged into slots 2 and 3 on the chassis
Many thanks for your help

Hi Profray,
What version of MAX is on your computer. Is PXI chassis being identified correctly (do you have the 1036)?
Thanks,

Hello Daniel,
I am using MAX 4.5 I believe.
I can get MAX to recognize the chassis because when I do not connnect it, I get the little yellow error icon on top of the device name and a pop-up message that the PXI has timed out.
If I reconnect and reboot I get no error icon and what seems to be everthing working.
My only other possible problem is a mismatch with hardware/OS. The machine I am using is a Dual Socket 4-core Xeon (64-bit of course). And the OS is XP at 32 bits.
Would this confuse MAX or the drivers?

Hi Profray,
I'm not sure about the hardware/OS mismatch, but I'm looking into it. What version of LabVIEW are you running? If you are using LabVIEW 8.6 or later, I would recommend that you install the latest version of DAQmx from ni.com/drivers. This will update MAX (including some patches we've released) and should repair any problems that may exist with your current drivers. Before installing, you should check the readme for DAQmx 9.4 and make sure that your other NI software is supported for DAQmx 9.4. Unless you have very old versions of our software, there should be no problem updating your DAQmx.
When you say that "If I reconnect and reboot I get no error icon and what seems to be everthing working," do you mean that it can recognize the PXI 6259 cards?

Daniel H.

I installed DAQmx 9.3 from website. First deleted all old software installations, then loaded it.
The drivers had to be installed immediately after logging on as admin and got the "discovered new hardware" dialog.
Drivers installed just fine. Interesting that since I had two PXI 6259 cards, I had to "discover new hardware" twice.
Devices are now listed in MAX 4.8 correctly.
The problem was probably old drivers and software that had been previously loaded on this box that I did not know about.
Unistalling all the old NI stuff and installing the new stuff did the trick.
Thanks for the help!
