The PXI 1002 is a chassis and a chassis is not vulnerable to various software viruses. However, if you are are meaning the controller which is embedded in the chassis (815x, 814x, 817x), this is similar to a PC and IS susceptible to software viruses. The best way to protect the controller is by using whatever virus protection software that your company is already using, this will ensure that you have the most recent protection available.

How do I install Norton AntiVirus on this controller? The firewall is protected, but we find that this is not always enough to stop new viruses.

The PXI controller is functionally identical to a PC just in a different form factor so installing an antivirus software package on the controller will be the same as on any computer with the same operating system. For Windows controllers, your best bet for finding a virus solution would be to contact the antivirus software vendor, in this case Norton.

If you are using LabVIEW RT as the operating system on the controller, there is no available antivirus software. The RT operating system is, however, not as susceptable to viruses as a Windows based operating system. The vast majority of viruses will affect portions of the Microsoft Windows operating system and not random parts of the disk. In order for the RT OS to become infected, you would hav
e to insert an infected floppy disk into the controller or replace the startup.exe file with an infected version. Otherwise, your controller is very hard to infect with a virus. Please let me know if you need further information...
