I have a comptuer that is about 3-4 months old
ITs a dell optiplex 755
I just purchased a 195315 pci express card.
This is for reading a ni pxi 1042
Connected to that are some stepper controller units.
upon boot of the PC, i get
"Alert Error initializing PCI express slot 4"
This is both with and without the PXI device connected.
The card is turned on in the bios.
We just paid a lot of money for these system.
It would be nice to get it to work and any help is appreciated.
someone else seemed to have the same problem.
I didnt see how it was resolved.

Dear Jimmy,
I read all the way through the forum that you had mentioned. There are a lot of good information that was shared.
Have you made sure that you're doing everything that is suggested on that forum?
For example, are you making sure that your PC is turned off when you power on the pxi chassis, then powering the PC?
What is the module that is being mailed to you?
Also, I realize that you have spend a huge amount of money on your equipment and I'd like to get your issue resolved ASAP. Please share your phone number if you'd like so I can contact you in case your issue is not resolved.
Thanks,

While the other thread sounds a lot like your issue, you said that it didn't matter if the PXI system was connected. If you're getting this message with the PXI system powered then it is probably something else.
Can you clarify whether "connected" also means powered (as Sammy asked), and tell me what are the LEDs on the MXI card in the 1042 chassis doing? Have you ever seen this system work, either on this or another computer?

ok, we are good now.
it was a combination of problems
one is that the power on the pxi had to be turned on while it was plugged in.
I had done this orignally.
Also, it was conflicting iwth some raid controller which was easy disabled.
I dont think this controller is part of the typical optiplex but rather something that uconn puts in all univeristy pcs to make it data mirror.
thanks guys!!

Can I get more details? I have the same problem. BIOS complains during boot. I did not even try installing drivers or plugging it in (into PXI chassis).
I have 2 hard disks in my PC installed in RAID configuration, this is how it came from DELL.
thanks

i had a few problems
I had the chassis power on from the start as i had read the other persons post before i made mine.
i went into the bios and was shutting integrated devices on and off and it finally started working.
What odd is when i put all the devices back on, it kept working.
It dosent make sense.
I honestly dont care enough to look more into this now. sorry..
I ended up just using a microcontroller for my design anyway.
