Looking for some advice on a problem we are having.
We have a PXI 8186 in a PXI 1045 chassis with multiple cards and we cannot get any video display out of it.
We have pulled the 8186 and reset the CMOS and it does power on, the HDD spins, and there is network activity.
We am using older Dell LCD panels that work on other devices.
We do not have another PXI chassis to test with, as that would be another good step to try.
Are there any "gotchas" that I might be missing.
Thank you.

Hi,
Thanks for contacting us. Is this a new system? If it is not a new system, have you made any changes to the system between now and the last known time the system worked? One thing to try would be to disconnect all the module from your system except the controller to see if one of the modules is malfunctioning and causing this behavior.
If the system is connected to a network and you know the computer name, you could try to connect remotely to it.
There also is the possibility that the device has malfunctioned and the video port is no longer functioning.
Please let me know any more information you can as well as the results of these troubleshooting steps.

No, this is not a new system.
From our discussions with the grad student, the video has never worked in his possession. We suspect it was inherited from a previous research project.
It appears to have been bought in 2004 - 2005.
I will try removing the cards and booting.
We can connect to the system remotely, but none of the network configuration information appears from the webserver. This was his first issue, I was trying to solve.
However, without a video signal and determining how stable the OS is, troubleshooting is proving difficult.

Hello,
I pulled out all of the cards and tried to boot it up.
It still boots with network access, but no display.
Is there any type of repair support for controllers such as these?
I realize it is a few years old, but the users was wondering if it could be sent in and repaired.
Thanks for the suggestions.

You can have the device repaired, but it is likely not under warranty anymore.
