usb hub

I have a PXI 8101 and purchased a 7 port usb hub ( manhattan ).  When I plug it in and connect it to two ( a seiko printer and cd read/writter)  external USB devices they dont work.  If I take out the hub and connect the 2 devices directly to the usb slots on the 8101, they work.

8101 is running Windows 7

usb hub is 2.0.7...could this be the problem??  how do I tell which usb driver I have ??

I tried pwring down then open w/o sucess.

usb hub is externally pwr'd

Thanks..

Hi Clint,

We have limited resources and experience working with third party usb hubs but we can try a few troubleshooting steps:

1. Have you tried using the hub in all the available usb ports of your PXI 8101?

2. Does your USB hub function on a different computer?

3. When you connect the USB hub to the PXI controller do you see a pop up stating that a driver is installing?

4. In the Windows Device Manager, is the usb hub listed? Maybe it could be worth trying to uninstall the device and then have Windows reinstall it.

Hopefully some of these steps help narrow down the cause of the issue.

1. Have you tried using the hub in all the available usb ports of your PXI 8101?  No I wiil give that a shot.  There are only 2.

2. Does your USB hub function on a different computer?  haven't tried that but will.

3. When you connect the USB hub to the PXI controller do you see a pop up stating that a driver is installing?

4. In the Windows Device Manager, is the usb hub listed? Maybe it could be worth trying to install the device and then have Windows reinstall it.

#3& 4: yes, then in a popup displays it had trouble w the device so windows is shutting it down.  When I open device manager it says its the 7 usb hub but has the yellow exclamation point next to it.  I've tried a number of things..pwr down...pwr up w ith the device in out.  unistall drive and let windows install.. to no avail.  I had been using a monitor as a hub for some time w/o an issue.  On some monitors there are additional usb ports and so i used them.  Its no longer feasible so I have to go to a hub.  Thats why I asked about a driver.  And sorry its usb 2.0 not usb 2.0.7  The 7 is the # of ports.

Hi Clint,

It seems like the root cause of this issue would be driver compatibility with the Hub and your Windows version.

The best step moving forward could be to contact the hub manufacturer and retrieve a functional driver.
