using real time controller in a chassis with built in mxi (pxi 1033)

hello there.. we recently acquired a 1033 chassis in hope to build a hil hardware. so we put an pxi controller 8110 in there but the controller would not boot. then we tried an 8106 it booted once out 10 tries.. then another 8106 it boots but the bios reports some conflict but later it enters windows os.

we noticed that there is a mxi controller built in the 1033 so I wonder if there is a conflict if we put another real time controller in there? do i have to disable the mxi to use the real time controller? or is this possibly a bad chassis?

thanks

gz,

The 1033 chassis doesn't support a separate controller.  The slots are wired differently for a controller vs a peripheral, and the 1033 doesn't have a controller slot because it was replaced with integrated MXI.  You're putting a controller in a peripheral slot which, as you've discovered, doesn't work.

For comparison, the PXI-1031 is nearly the same chassis as the PXI-1033, but with a controller slot instead of integrated MXI.  The glyphs by each slot indicate the slot type, and they should match the card you're putting in the slot.
