Abstract: G Systems developed a control system for the R&D testing of high-rpm helicopter drive system assemblies. The test stand installation is an electrical regenerative system designed to test main rotor and reduction gearboxes for aircraft drive system installations. Due to the mission-critical nature of these systems, a real-time PXI solution running LabVIEW Real-Time with NI-DAQmx and an ABB variable frequency drive was selected to control industrial cooling, lube pumps, hydraulic pumps, and motor speed and torque. At this session, G Systems offers real-world insights on controlling mission-critical aircraft gearboxes using NI software and hardware.
