Distributed Hardware-in-the-Loop Test

ID: TS3264

Abstract: Learn about recent efforts to overcome classic hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) limitations by combining hardware emulation and distributed electrical and thermal hardware to make an integrated electrical and thermal subsystem. The high cost of hardware-based aerospace testing is making real-time HIL more important for research and development. At this session, explore how to develop a system where emulation, simulation, and hardware components are located in different physical locations, which requires remote GPS synchronization of data acquisition and data sharing. Hear about the many challenges overcome-including data latencies, model correctness, and differing communication protocols-to achieve a complete, real-time system.
