Abstract: Many who value LabVIEW as a rapid application development tool are skeptical to apply it in the cost-sensitive deeply embedded domain. This session demonstrates how the sbRIO-9651 System on Module (SOM) works as the system's brain in a highly efficient, compact, and fully autonomous solar energy plant, the "sunflower." Learn how to add custom hardware to the module, design and implement low-level device drivers, and ensure reliable 24/7 operation using the FPGA. Take away the lessons learned on how to master a complex embedded application that connects to dozens of sensors, controls a dual-axis stepper motor, and communicates with an enterprise network.
