Automating National Board Lab and Processes for Pressure Relief Device Testing

Abstract: The National Board Test Laboratory staff conducts over 180 tests each month on pressure-relieving devices according to ASME standards. In 2012, the lab invested in hardware and software to upgrade and automate the laboratory. This included a 2500 psi high-pressure test line and the automation of four test systems and the overall process using NI CompactDAQ and LabVIEW.
