Roger Dugan (Sr. Technical Executive, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI))
Davis Montenegro (Engineer Scientist II, Electric Power Research Institute (EPRI))
When simulating real-world power systems, several events happen simultaneously, so you need to use modern parallel programming. At this session, learn how EPRI addresses this problem by using the LabVIEW Actor Framework to create a distribution management system (DMS) simulator. This simulator includes 3D georeferenced graphics, power meters, and schematics using graphical interfaces for delivering a real DMS experience to the lab and its clients. This actor-based co-simulation incorporates EPRI’s OpenDSS program as well as several applications using LabVIEW as the main framework.
