Because of the high costs and safety concerns of a possible nuclear reactor shutdown, nondestructive examination test systems must meet strict regulations as defined by the Nuclear Safety Commission. These systems must scan fuel channels as quickly and accurately as possible, but many of them have aging technology and signal degradation due to long cable lengths, which puts the inspection at risk. At this session, explore the challenges Prolucid faced and the approach it took to deploy a PXI system placed closer to the reactor face. This system is capable of processing massive data rates in real time using LabVIEW FPGA with minimal development time.
