The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety and the Highway Loss Data Institute found that adaptive automotive headlights can significantly reduce accident rates after dark and designed a road course to test their effectiveness. The multicurve test track uses gates with arrays of light meters that measure forward and glare light at different heights. A CompactRIO system is used to correlate the measured headlight intensity with the vehicle's position and wirelessly transfer the data back to a central server. At this session, learn best practices for designing a distributed and portable CompactRIO-based measurement system using GPS time synchronization and wireless communication.
