Verification and Production Test for Custom Communication Standards Smart Meters and Automated Meter Readers (AMRs) need to be tested at board level before being installed into their fixture. This demonstration uses a test fixture which clamps down on the PCB for automated testing of DC, digital and RF signals generated on the board. PXI is used to test all aspects of the board in a functional test fashion using LabVIEW and TestStand. ZigBee, which is built from IEEE 802.15.4, provides many advantages for Smart Meter applications. It is a low powered, low-cost, mesh network based protocol which works well when you have Smart Meters or AMRs linked from home to home or business to business. This demonstration uses National Instruments PXI as well as Seasolve ZigBee aCT software to perform Automated Compliance Test of an Ember EM250 System on Chip.
