Invitation to use PLUG+ for Design Reviews

During last week's LV Dev Days question/answer period, I mentioned that I would love to perform some occassional code reviews during user group meetings.  For the audience it's an opportunity to see how other people are writing their LabVIEW code, and for yourself it's an opportunity to improve your skills and the quality of your product.

But I I realized after I said that that the same benefits would also be true for design reviews, and design reviews might be less restrictive from a company policy point of view.  If you're able to describe/provide a concise problem statement to the user group, we could spend some time in teams brainstorming designs to meet that need.  Each group could then share that design with the user group, we could talk about the pros and cons of each proposed design.  The presenter essentially gets to take the best of elements of everyone's solution before starting their own implementation.  Of course the timing of the user group meetings would need to line up with your schedule.  I think our next PLUG and PLUG+ meetings already have presenters pretty well lined up, so the next opportunity probably wouldn't be till Sept, though Doug may squeeze another PLUG meeting before NI Week, so that would be in July.

Design Reviews are best done prior to implementation, but even a late design review would help validate your design, reduce your risk, and would be a good learning experience for the user group.

Something to consider,

Nate
