I would like to introduce one FPGA-based PV system real-time simulation demo video to you. This demo consists of both a prototype controller and a real-time simulator. Both the controller and the simulator are based on the NI hardware platform. The controller and the simulator are communicated through true physical IOs and form a closed-loop HIL system. This closed loop system shows how PV MPPT control works.
The PV system diagram is shown below, the PV is modeled as the current source. The electrical part of this system is simulated with the step size of 2.5 microsecond on FPGA.
This is the video link. You can directly start around 5:00 then you can directly jump to the demo part (before that is the project structure and file introduction).
The below is the video screenshot.
Please feel free to contact me (kevin.wang@modeling-tech.com) if you are interested in the FPGA-based solar system real-time simulation.

Very nice, Kevin. How do the LabVIEW simulation project and Starsim model relate? Are RT and FPGA VIs created from the Starsim model in some kind of automated fashion?

Hello Dfjuggler,
Current FPGA Model (VI) is created manually according to this PV topology. And we are developing a tool called StarSim FPGA which will help customers to simulate arbitrary power electronics topology on NI FPGA target.
At the current stage, ModelingTech can provide the consulting service to help customer to convert their topology to FPGA.
Just feel free to contact us if you have the related applications.
Best Regards,
Kevin Wang
