Can PXI 567x create a 802.11 signal?

I have a question about the PXI 567x  VSG. I don't know if it can create a 802.11a/b/g or WCDMA signal and transmit it throught the air just like those APs and basestations do. Is an external antenna nesessary if I want to do those things mentioned above?? I am really confused by those data sheets and specs. Don't know if someone can tell me about that. Thanks!!

Hello Immortal,

National Instruments does not directly build those protocols, but provides the building blocks. However, you can work with National Instruments' alliance partners to achieve this. You can browse the list of alliance partners by going to www.ni.com/alliance.
I would recomment visitint http://www.seasolve.com/

Thansk for the reply. Now I understand. Actually I just watched a 2003 keynote from ni website last night. In the keynote the ni guy demonstrated how to interpret and send 802.11g signal. I guess he probably used the same way that you mentioned. BTW, are there any 3rd party company that sells the analysis and signal generation toolkit of CDMA and GSM ?? Thanks!!

Hello,
One of our Select Integrators, Amfax, can be contacted for more info on a GSM/CDMA solution using the NI RF platform. See their page in our partner directory at:

Or their own home page at:
