PSK burst

I wanted to know how can generate PSK with NI RFSG( i have 5670). Now nifgen does have an example niFGEN PSK burst generation.vi but it only works in IF frequency. Is there any other example that generates PSK burst in RF frequency or any way to convert the niFGEn code to ni RFSG code.

thanks.

Have you looked at the example from the Modulation Toolkit that is included with 5670 purchase?

the example "MT RFSG generate PSK" generates continuous PSK and is demodulated by the example "MT ni 5660 PSK demod.vi"..  However what I need is burst generation of PSK in RF frequency which can be demodulated by "MT ni 5660 PSK demod(burst detection).vi".

Right now what I am doing is that i am running "MT niFGEN PSK burst generation.vi"and I  have connected the output of the AWG to the down converter and specified 15.0M as the carrier frequency.

But I need the PSK burst generation in RF frequency

Thanks.

Hi Dileep Karwa Kumar,

You are right, there is not a PSK burst generation for the RFSG in Modulation Toolkit. Let me do some research on this. I will determine whether or not we can do PSK burst generation with the RFSG, and if so, how to go about this.

Hi Dileep Karwa Kumar,

Just wanted to let you know that I am still working on this issue. I am thinking that you can modify the MT RFSG generate PSK VI in a similar way that the MT niFGEN burst generation VI modified upon the MT niFGEN PSK Signal Generation VI. However, I want to do a little more research before I send you down a path that has a dead end. I will get back to you as I discover more.

Hi Dileep Karwa Kumar,

I talked to one of my colleagues who had some additional insite into this issue. I believe the reason why there is not a MT RFSG PSK Burst Generation example is that the LO amplifier on some of the older revisions of the RFSG do not support burst generation. If you are still interested in digging further into this issue, please send me a personal email with the serial number of your RFSG and your email address. I will look into what revision you have, and whether or not it supports burst generation.

Hi Dileep Karwa Kumar,

I apologize, my last post was inaccurate. The problem is not going to be the LO, but the FGEN. The functionality that is needed is retriggerable generation. After looking into the 5670, it looks like it supports retriggerable generation, so PSK burst generation is possible. I have a couple questions for you:

1) What is the center frequency of your generation?

2) How long of a burst are you looking to generate?

3) Which analyzer are you using?

I am going to try this out on my end so I can give you more information on what needs to be done.

My center frequency will be 1.90 GHz.. The length of the burst doesnt matter a lot for me. I know that it will be limited by the memory of 5670 RFSG. The analyzer I am using is 5661.

Thanks.

Hi Dileep Karwa Kumar,

Thanks for getting back to me. The example I'm working on is called RFSG Finite Generation Re-Triggered. I am going to try to modify it to get the PSK burst generation working. I will keep you updated.
