Can a cRIO-9066 be replaced with a cRIO-9067?

Solved!

Looking at the specs, it seems that it's possible. The only difference I see is the the 9067 has more memory and storage (and an extra Ethernet port). I have a suspect cRIO-9066, and a spare 9067 that is currently not being used. Most importantly, they seem to be using the same FPGA (I have some FPGA code running on the 9066). My idea is to create a RAD image from the 9066 and put it on the 9067. But I'm afraid of bricking the 9067. If someone has tried this, I'll be very grateful for any info! Thank you!

RAD is designed to duplicate images on identical targets. While the hardware is almost identical, don't be surprised if RAD fails, but it is worth a try. You have to try hard to brick a Linux RT based cRIO. Worst case, you will have to create a recovery drive and reinstall the Safe image. The VxWorks based cRIOs were easier to 'brick'.

I finally had the chance to try this. The cRIO 9067 we had was password locked and no one remembered it, so there was a lot of back-and-forth with NI support until they found the correct file to unlock it. The RAD image deployment failed, just as AustinMan predicted. However, after manually installing the software and deploying it, it works with the same code intended for NI 9066, so that was a success.
