Can any of the C Series DIO Modules be configured to use the inputs as counters?

Hi

i am working with the Compact RIO 9022 with the 9104 Chassis. with the job i am working on here i have the need for alot of counters, is there any way to configure the inputs on a NI 9426 DI card to be counters? and how would i go about doing this? if not, which C series modules do support counters for the RIO?

Hello Kmoyna,

In Scan Mode up to 2 DI modules can be configured to work as counters.  This only works for DI modules with 8 channels or fewer.

If you want to use the 9426, you'll have to implement your own counter logic on the FPGA.

Have a look in Example Finder (Help -> Find Examples) and navigate to Hardware Input and Output -> CompactRIO -> FPGA Fundamentals -> Counters. If you have any other questions, please post back.

Example Finder is in LabVIEW. You need to install the NI RIO driver on your computer and, then, you should be able to find that directory in there.

Just FYI, you can configure all the modules in the chassis as counters; however, you can only do 2 without compiling.
