Cannot load real time software in EVS 1460, hard rive full?

I have an EVS-1460, it was working okay a few months ago (but put away for a while) and now that I have tried to get it going again, it seems to have gotten all pissed off. It kept crashing while I was attempting to run the already built program on it and finally came up saying the hard drive was full, although it isn't. I was recently forced to update to Windows 7 but still running LV 32bit, not sure if that had anything to do with any of it. Here is where I'm at right now though:

I have re-formatted the hard drive using the function in MAX.

I can get the EVS to boot okay and see it in MAX.

As soon as I try and install the smallest of real time software options, it takes a long time and than finally says, "Failed to installl. Possible reasons, Hard drive full".

I know the hard drive isnt full, I basically have a EVS with no software that won't allow me to install software, any ideas?

Hi Cosworth.

I think youer reffereing to the EVS1464. I know you mentioned that you have reformatted the system, but you might want to do it again since it does not work all the time! Here is a link to the EVS-1464RT manuals, look at page 77 for the formatting instructions.

Also, it a good idea to FTP into the EVS and see what is in it. Open a widows explorer and type ftp://<EVS IP Address>  .

Thanks and have a great day.

Thanks for the reply.

It finally just downloaded, not sure what changed but it seems good now.

Another question slightly related. I can't seem to access the compact flash card I have attached, is there certain software that has to be installed via MAX in order for the flash card slot to work? I've tried several ways (ftp, MAX-File transfer) to view the contents and nothing seems to work.

New issue now....

Every time I try and boot the EVS with the flash card installed, the EVS will not boot properly. This problem is very consistant with the flash card installed? I have re-formatted the flash card to FAT32 as the manual states and it doesn't seem to help at all.

This real time stuff drives me crazy. I spent quite a bit of time a while back working with a cRIO and the softmotion stuff!

Hi Cosworth,

Did  you try a different Flash Memory Card ? you might want to give it a try before you dive into more troubleshooting.

Thanks and have a great day.

This is going to sound odd but I swear, as soon as I closed the CF door, everything seems to be fine again??????? Unless there is some kind of switch that knows that cover is open, I have no idea but it seems to make a difference?

Everything seeems good now, it allows me to add remove software write to the CF and see the CF via ftp.

Any advice on speeding up the ability to write to the CF card? I need to write to something as fast as possible, hard drive seems fastest, USB second with CF far behind. Would firewire drive be anywhere in between?
