Copying files from RT target using Windows Explorer through FTP connection

Solved!
Go to solution

I frequently transfer files from my cRIO to my PC desktop using Windows Explorer through an FTP connection.  This works well most of the time.  However, if the file on the cRIO changes and I try to copy again to my PC desktop, the old file is pasted to my desktop.  I remember seeing the solution to this in the past (an Explorer setting or something) but I can't for the life of me find that thread.  The only workaround that I know of at this point is to rename the file on the cRIO and then perform the transfer.

Does anybody know how to force Windows Explorer to recognize and copy only the most current file?

Thanks,

Jeff

Not sure if this setting also effects Windows Explorer but this should work in IE.

Change the cache setting to always check for updated content on every visit to the page. To do this, click Internet Options on the Tools menu in Internet Explorer, click Settings on the General tab, click Every visit to the page, and then click OK. For FTP, this forces the content to be downloaded again as a new copy rather than picked from the cache.

I find I have to hit Refresh in the folder listing, and sometimes I have to open the file remotely and hit Refresh there. I think I'll try that IE setting.
