Does the format VI in the RT System Replication work on CRIO 9014?

Everytime I run the format VI on CRIO 9014, it gave me an error that the target cannot be remotly formated.
I have updated the RT System Replication to the latest one you have online which support pharlaps/vxworks, but it still give me the same error?

So the format VI is not designed for CRIO9014? then how does MAX do it?

Thank you

Hi Epoch,

Is the SafeMode DIP switch set to ON?  To format the controller it must be set in the on position.  The RT System replication VIs should work fine with pharlap or vxworks targets.

Thanks,

Bassett

Hello Bassett,

The Dip switch is on the Off position, but it works fine with the Dip switch off when using the CRIO 9004 that has pharlap.
Is CRIO 9014 / Vxworks any different?

Thank you

Yes it is slightly different.  The MAX format will also fail on cRIO-901x controllers if the SafeMode Switch is not turned to off.

Have you been relying on it not depending on the DIP switch? How would you prefer it to behave?

Thanks,

Bassett

Hello Bassett,

I would rather for it to work without switching the dip switch to on. I am working on this program that deploy a certain image in the CRIO, and the user of that program will be technicians.
I would rather if they dont touch these dip switches, but if thats not possible i will try to go around it.

Thank you for your help.

Yes, I would like to add my support for being able to reformat a cRIO (VxWorks Target) without having to flip the safe mode dip switch.

If you have a system that is deeply embedded in a product, it can be frustrating to have to flip dip switches.  I do not see why this

needs to be specially protected.  You can blow a cRIO out of the water remotely using MAX in many ways without going into safe mode.
