Hi Raki2090,

-Make sure that you have the correct version of NI-RIO installed on the host PC.
-Switch the reset IP switch . This restores the controller to the default IP address (0.0.0.0).

-If you have network firewalls enabled, try temporarily turning them off. Security software such as BlackICE can possibly block network communication to and from your cRIO controller

I have been able to solve that problem by adding nimax.exe to the list of Windows Firewall Exceptions. In that case I think the firewall was disabled, so I didn't understand well why adding that exception solved the problem, but it did.

Hope it helps.

hi,
I tried to disconnect the firewall, added nimax to firewall exception list, but later  I figured out that  I did not install NI real time module, Now I installed the labview 8.5, Real time module , compact rio 2.4 version , but still I wasn't able to find the compact rio on NIMAX , I went to NI meeting to figure out the problem and he said that my laptop is not able to detect the ethernet connection with compact rio, when I plug in ethernet cable to compact rio and laptop , my laptop doesn't give any indication of connection , and It says no local area connection and network cable unplugged,  while I was successfully able to connect to CSULB or any other ethernet , I tried changing the IP address in TCP/IP settings to 192.165.0.5, and I was unsucessful doing that too. The NI guy checked out my drivers and said they were good , the only problem is my laptop not able to connect to compact rio with ethernet cable
can any body help me
Thank you

What kind of ethernet cable are you using? A regular one or a crossover one? If connecting directly to the cRIO controller you need to use an ethernet crossover cable. Another alternatives to diagnose your problem is to connect both laptop and cRIO to an ethernet hub or switch.

I am using cat5 cable , I guess its the cable used inorder to connect wireless router to laptop. The NI guy was able to connect the compact rio using the same cat5 cable.,
My ethernet is working fine, when I connect my laptop to wireless router using cat5 cable, it shows network plugged in ( indicating that ethernet is working) I don't know at the same time why it is not able to configure with compact rio.Do I need to check in or check out any options in network connections.

I went all through network connections and tried all kinds on TCP/IP changing the IP address to different address but in vain.

Hi Raki2090,

I am sorry to hear about your issue.

Did the NI guy manage to connect to the same cRIO in question?

Here are some troubleshooting tips you might try and look into;

1. Try to FTP into your cRIO. Open a web browser and type in ftp://xx.xx.xx.xx/, where xx.xx.xx.xx is the IP address of the cRIO.

Can you see any of the cRIO files?

2. Try directly connecting to the cRIO using a crossover cable.

Once you've tried these please tell me what you observed

Also please refer to Troubleshooting CompactRIO Controllers in Measurement and Automation Explorer for further help.

Hopefully this helps.
