I am interested in employing a 9144 cRIO chassis as an EtherCAT slave within a third party EtherCAT topology. I would like to use the slave chassis for data acquisition (analog / digital), and CANbus communications. The analog/digital I/O seems not to be a problem, however, the cRIO advisor always forces the CAN card (9853 or 9862) onto another chassis with a controller suggesting that it cannot reside on the 9144.
Does anyone definitively know whether or not the 9144 chassis supports either the 9853 or 9862 CANbus comms module?
Much appreciated,
Chandler

The 9862 is defenitely not supported because it requires DMA transfer mechanisms that are not available with EtherCAT and it doesn't support FPGA mode.
The 9853 module should work in ECAT but you would need to create your own UDV transfer engine for the CAN data. And the module needs to be added in offline mode because the automatic detection is not supported yet.
