I cannot reset the IP adress for cRIO-9073.

I was formating the disk on a cRIO-9073 and I accidently deleted the network settings that were on there previously. Now I'm trying to change the IP address that was generated to the static one I had before in Measurement & Automation Explorer but it will not save the entered IP address even though I'm connected directly to the cRIO through an ethernet cable. The target is currently in Safe Mode. Has anyone encountered this before?

Hello Miguel,

You mentioned that you have been unable to update your controller’s IP address successfully. What is the current value for the IP address? Depending on the software installed, the cRIO will either revert to a 0.0.0.0 address or it will look for a DHCP server and use a link-local if no IP address is assigned to it. The following document outlines the software/hardware combinations that determine this behavior:

Have you been able to successfully communicate with the cRIO in MAX?  On the “System Settings” window in MAX, what “Status” do you see?

Also, it is possible that the IP Reset switch has been turned on as well. This switch would prevent the custom configuration of network settings, as it changes the network configuration back to default settings every time the cRIO resets.

I'm going to piggy back on this discusison since I'm seeing the exact same thing, the exception being I have a cRIO-9014.  I have just formated the RIO disk, and now cannot save the IP address.  I'm getting 0.0.0.0.  I am absolutely certain that I have not left the DIP switch ON for the IP reset.

I do believe I've tried setting the netwok adapter with and without the RIO booted into safe mode, but not certain, so I will try next.

It worked for me... Make sure that the Safe Mode DIP switch is off, as well as the IP Reset DIP switch.  Reboot and it saved the network settings no problem and went through the normal routine of stating RIO needed to reboot for settings to take affectand asking if I wanted to restart now..."

Interesting problem, same which I had to tackle yesterday, and on 9073 too, with the 0.0.0.0 address thing (the earlier 9073-family from P/N-looks of it).

Not sure if the DIP switches mattered most, but in the end going through the MAX -> Tools -> NI-Serial -> Ethernet Device Configuration (and there select cRIO device, punch in the IP settings - Static only I think) was far smoother and quick ride than that MAX 5.5 -> cRIO -> Network settings (actually the page just did not work at all?).

Try deleting the cRIO from MAX and then close MAX.  When you relaunch MAX it should autodiscover the target and then try setting the network settings.
