I am curious if anyone has ever thought it would be useful to have an Inertial Measurement Unit + magnetometer +GPS packaged into a CompactRIO module form factor, with the "sensor fusion" done on the module itself. Talking to some people who sell a navigation chip got my gears spinning... if someone wanted to use their product with LabVIEW, they would have to go and write the driver, run RS232 cable to the cRIOs serial port or a serial module. Kind of annoying and not exactly plug and play. I know a company called mink hollow sells a cRIO IMU product, but in their case I believe it's just a 3-axis accelerometer, and the sensor itself is external to the cRIO. I think what I have in mind is a more complete solution. The question is... would anyone want it/ buy it? So I figure I will ask here and see if I get any responses.
