The problem appears to be that wizard cannot get the system configuration information. Have you restarted the computer since you installed the software? Some services installed by NI do not start until after a reboot.

If the restart does not work then check if software installation through MAX is successful, as that will help narrow down the problem. To do this expand your target in MAX and right click software to get to the add\remove software wizard.

Hi,

It seems that I have de the same kind of problem...

The softwares from DVD are all installed. LabVIEW 2010 SP1 was already installed on the computer.

The version NI RIO is 3.

The computer is set to use DHCP, auto IP and auto DNS.

I have this error message after the failure of deployment to the robot sbRIO card which is the same that Kingston University and I cannot go forward.

I tried to install something from MAX (datasocket module) just to see if if worked. It worked perfectly.

I managed once, for some unknown reason, to deploy completely the software and to continue. I did load the original project on the card and run the robot, it did work. Unfortunately, when i stopped the robot and try to reconnect it to the computer to load once again the program, the connection seems to have failed again. Since this moment, I haven't been able to transfert anything from the computer to the robot, even through MAX.

Do you have any idea of what could be the problem?

The Hardware Setup Wizard need only be run on a robot occasionally. Its primary purpose is to install NI software components on the sbRIO (RT, RIO etc) and test the sensors on the robot. Once this is done those files persist on the robot unless it is overwritten, formatted or corrupted somehow. To actually deploy examples or user code you only need to connect to the target from within LabVIEW. That said the Hardware Setup Wizard should obviously work if you run it again.

In my personal experience the primary reasons for failure of the Hardware Setup Wizard are

1) Dip switch on (especially "No app", "IP Reset", "Safe Mode"). Turn all dip switches off.
2) Need to reboot computer after installing\updating NI Software.
3) Unexpected set of software installed i.e RIO version and LabVIEW RT version are not compatible.
LabVIEW RT 2009 -> RIO 3.4 or above

LabVIEW RT 2010 -> RIO 3.5 or above

LabVIEW RT 2010SP1 -> RIO 3.6 or above

LabVIEW RT 2011 -> RIO 4.0 or above
3a) If using LabVIEW 2010SP1 and NI RIO 3.6 ensure patch is installed from here
4) If VMware is installed on your machine and sbRIO IP address is 169.x.x.x. VMWare redirects traffic in this subnet to its virtual ethernet adapters. Disable VMware's virtual networking or contact VMware support.
5) If your router is powered off the robot's battery, then the sbRIO may boot faster than the router and hence fail to get a valid IP address. Reboot the sbRIO after router is ready or consider using a static IP address.
6) Special case involving automatic IP address with no DHCP server found when sbRIO has no RT software installed. Temporarily connect unresponsive device to DHCP network to install software.

If none of the above apply then post the details of the error here or contact NI via our other support channels to troubleshoot further.

Same problem here, same error screen.

Labview 2010 (with a lot of modules), Run-Time 2010SP, RIO 3.6, etc. Everything was instaled before the robot was bought. Switches are off. Double checked anything I can think of.

The Wizard patch does NOTHING, same error. Restarted the computer, tried again, same error.

In the first PC we tested the robot, there was nothing installed, so the DVD´s included with the robot were used, and everything went fine. But in this PC, I get that error all time. A morning wasted to get nothing!

So... what can i do? Uninstall EVERYTHING National Instruments-Related in this computer, and reinstall using the robot dvds? Seriously... I cant think of another solution.

Hello Xandro

Thank you very much for bringing this problem to our attention.  I am sorry this situation is causing you such duress.  If you believe you have exhausted all your options and you have the time, it may be worthwhile to uninstall all related software and re-install it.  I'm wondering if this is PC specific.  Are there any other PCs you could test this on?  (Though this really shouldn't be holding you back...)

Please let me know!  I want to ensure your success.

Sincerely,

Greg S.

Before you wipe the system can you post the error code that you are getting. We may be able to get more information from that code. Also if you are familiar with the Measurement and Automation Explorer you can try installing RIO and RT (any of the standard software sets should work) to the controller from that program and seeing if the same error occurs.

Hi!
As I said before, it´s the same error, here:

Code error:-2147220296

Buf if I keep restarting the robot and trying again, the error code changes as well.

Error Code: -2147220354

That´s weird... I´m honestly worried about the hardware, my project depends of this, I dont want to sc*** it :S

Asi I said, a workmate tested the robot in first place using his PC, but he had to install everything from the DVD that comes with DaNi, and it went fine... we even tested the romaing alg, so it was operative without a doubt. But Im the one who it´s suppoused to work with the robot, and Im not able to do it.

I was testing and working with LabView Robotics the last 4 months in a scholarship from my university, so I had almost everything installed before the robot was bought. So, if my workmate was able to run everything, and after trying the Wizard patch without success. I think there would be less time-consuming uninstalling everything and re-installing the software from the robot DVD.

Never used MAX, by the way.

Anyway, thank you! Ill try uninstalling, damn, how i wish there were a coffee machine nearby.

PS. It seems that there are some people with the same problem, were the patch doesn´t work... maybe it doesnt work with a certain combination, even if you have the SP1 and RIO3.6. I had a LOT of modules, almost everything you could need working in robotics.

Your error code suggests a dependency problem. Try formating the robot. The instructions at http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/allkb/6D0F9F74FD2DAD0186256EE5007198D4 should be accurate even though you are using an sbRIO.

We are aware from this thread that the 2010 Hardware Setup Wizard does not work for some people. We tried to get the exact error codes from people to track down the problematic configurations. The 2011 wizard uses a slightly different installation mechanism in order to get around some of the problems.

Well.. yesterday I uninstalled everything, all that could be NI related too (like cogmation module). the PC was clean.

Installed all that comes with the robot´s DVD.

Same error keeps popping.

Formating the robot is dangerous if you dont know what you are doing?

I talked with the guy who make it work in another PC first. It seems that he encountered the same problem but cant remember what he did (he actually had to phone to NI). But he didnt formated the robot, so it has to be something different.

This is my software, everything what comes with the robot´s DVD, nothing more, nothing less:

So, in the end, noone has any idea of what is the real problem? I´m trying to configure DaNi in the old PC that worked the first time...
