Installing NI-DAQmx 8.0.0 & NI-DAQmx OPC Support 1.0.0

We are using a dedicated PC as a Real-Time Target.  The target reboots in RT just fine; we can see it through MAX and we were able to change its name and IP and install the majority of the software required on the target.

The problem we have is this : we cannot see the acquisition card (NI-PCI-6229, installed on our target) with MAX (through our host).  We figured we haven't installed the software required to interact with the card, namely NI-DAQmx 8.0.0 & NI-DAQmx OPC Support 1.0.0.  When we try to do so (with MAX, under the add/delete software tab), we have the following error (as seen in the screenshot attached) :

Impossible de procéder à l'installation car d'autres dépendances sont nécessaire :
SCXI 1.5.0
NI-DAQmx Switch 1.6.0
NI 653x Support 1.1.0

MAX doesnt offer any other options.

So here are my questions:
1- Am I not seeing my acquisition card because I'm missing the software mentionned above?
2- If so, where can I find this software and how can I install it?

Any advice would be helpfull...

Hi M.Chartrand,

I have tried to replicate the error message you received on my side of things and I have not been able to. In order to use the 6229 you do in fact need the DAQmx driver. Verion 8.3 is the one recommended on ni.com for this card.

As your error message is referring to dependencies, could you please let me know what option you have selected in the step that I have included in the attached screen shot? Thanks!

Best regards,

Steven C

Using the latest drivers (8.3) for the acquisition card solved the problem.  Thanks!

Well it seems solving one problem only take us to the next one.

While toying around with labview RT, we tried to download and execute a very simple VI to our target, similar to what is shown in the tutorial video (instead of a termo couple, we used a laser transducer for distance mesurement).

When we try to deploy the VI to the target, we get the following error (as shown in the screenshot attached) :

Failed to download error cluster from error code.vi

I searched through the message boards here and the only answer I thought was relevant to my case mentionned that space disk might be insufficient.  I doubt that may be the case here, given that we have a 120 GB hard drive (one partition) that only has windows installed.

We are using both labview and real-time 8.0.  IP of the target looks fine, we can communicate without any problem.

Do any of you have any hint as to what is the root of our problem here?

Regards,

M Chartrand.

Hi M Chartrand,

I have looked into this and I have noticed that this type of error message usually occurs when one does not have all the necessary SW installed on their target. Could you please verify that you have installed all the required SW onto your target. If you are not sure you may want to post a screen shot from MAX for us to see what exactly you do have installed on your target. Thanks!

Here's a screenshot of the software installed on the target.

I verified with the Add/Delete Software tab and everything is marked as installed.  There is no SW left to check.

Thanks for your assistance.

Regards,

M Chartrand

Hi MChartrand,

In order to further narrow down the issue, could you please let me know if any other simple examples (shipping or ones that you have created) deploy correctly onto your target, or do you always get this exact same error?

Please let me know. Thanks!

I upgraded to LV 8.2 and the same error happens, as seen in the screenshot attached (error-5).

What is really throwing me off here is that we have a similar setup with 2 other machines and everything worked out on the first try (unfortunatly I can't use them).

It is a network configuration issue? memory issue (what's the reason for the No memory informaton is available message?)?  I am lost here, as the documentation and message boards don't hold any more info on a similar issue.

Is desinstalling and reinstalling everything worth a shot?

No, even the example provided by LV (which simulate a sinus) doesn't work.

It seems I can deploy the target settings and the variables, but the target - single rate - variables.VI cannot be proprely deploy on the target.  Failure occurs every time.

I will try to look at the other 2 machines and see if there's anything different in the configuration.

I have the feeling it's something silly that would take 5 sec to fix!

Thanks for the assistance

After testing with our other RT system, I *think* my target has a memory issue.

If I right-click my target in the project explorer and select Utilities -> Target Info, I have a negative amount of memory listed (see the ss).

Here are the specs of my target :

CPU: Intel Pentium IV 3.2 GHz
Memory: 3.3 Go of RAM
Network Card: Intel PRO/100 S
Acquisition Card: PCI-6229
HD: 120 Go (111 Go free)

If you need more specific details about the hardware on the target to pinpoint the problem, let me know.
