Is the NI USB-5681 compatible with CompactRIO with VxWorks controller?

Hello, I would like to know if the NI USB-5681 USB RF power meter will be accessible from the USB port on my NI cRIO-9025 RT controller?  Most of the USB RF power meters on the market with LabVIEW support make use of DLL and WINAPI calls.  I cannot use these as my application runs on the CRIO controller in VxWorks.  Any alternative approach suggestions are welcomed as well.

Thanks!

Hello,

The USB port on cRIO is very limited and intended to be used with flash memory. We do not suport this device (USB-5681) with the cRIO. However, there is an alternative approach to this with a third ethernet HUB made by Belcan. Please post back if you are interested in pursuing this.

Best,

Thanks for your reply and clarification about the cRIO USB capabilities.  I'm interested in the ethernet hub approach, can you please tell me more?

Hi throwownasweater,

I have personally tested the Belkin F5L009 5-Port Network USB Hub and it has functioned properly, however, there are other hubs that I have seen that have not worked.  This is not something that NI specifically supports so be sure to test the setup well before relying upon it.  I hope this gives you a good option for your application.

Regards,

Dustin D

Thanks for the info!  Unfortunately, the Belkin hub cannot be applied to my project because it is wireless (sorry, I hadn't mentioned this), but I will keep it in mind as an option.  I'm still curious about how it would work.  So, this has been tested using a cRIO?  Do the USB peripherals connected to the hub look like USB objects in LabVIEW, or like IP addresses?
