Labview FPGA 8.2 Target stops running when I run the Host Vi, is this normal?

Hello There:

I am using Labview FPGA 8.2

There is a Target vi and a Host Vi

I first run the Target vi, then as soon as I start the Host vi
the Target vi stops running. ( the running arrows show as not running )

Is this normal behaviour?

_________________________________________________________________________

Another thing I noticed is that when the Host vi starts running
It says: "Downloading to Target"     ( the Host vi is not suppossed to run in the Target )

thank you for your help...somebody?

Hi carlos,

If a VI is simply under My Computer in your Project Explorer (and under nothing else), it will not deploy the VI to any target.  However, if the VI is located under another target in the Project Explorer, the VI will be deployed and run on the target (cRIO controller, PXI chassis controller, FPGA, etc..).

Also, when you open a reference to an FPGA VI the VI will deploy to its target.

Hopefully this information is helpful!  If you can post what hardware you are targeting and where your host and target VIs are located in your project explorer, maybe we can provide you with more answers to any questions you may have.

Cheers!

Assuming you have things setup as Brian suggests.  What are the conditions that stop your Target.vi.  How are you communicating between the two vis.
