MAX says my PXI-7833R is a PXI-7831R

I have a PXI-7833R and I noticed that in MAX it is listed as a PXI-7831R.  Would this affect the resources that the compiler is optimizing for?  The reason I'm asking is that I have a VI that I am working on for the FPGA and I have reached a point that I have run out of slices.  I don't believe that my VI is complicated enough to have used all 3 million gates on the PXI 7833R.

Hello BruceBarnes,

That is a strange behavior with your PXI-7833R device.

What version on LabVIEW, Operating System, and NI-RIO do you have?

As an additional note, this may require an uninstall/reinstall of the NI-RIO driver (if you have not already attempted this) as it is possible that a driver corruption may have occurred. But before doing this, we can try removing the device in Device Manager.

  1. Press [Windows]+[Break (the last key on the top right-hand side of a standard keyboard)] to bring up the System Properties dialog box.

  2. Select the Hardware tab and click the Device Manager button.

  3. In Device Manager, go to NI-RIO Devices and click on the expand icon (plus)

  4. To remove an unused device driver, right-click the icon and select Uninstall.

  5. Try restarting your machine and see if the PXI-7833R is recognized instead of the PXI-7831R

Juan,

I found the problem late yesterday.  I decided to pull the PXI-7833R from the chassis to see if the board had any identifying markings on it.  It does, the board is a PXI-7831R!  So somehow our 7833R was built with the 7831 board.  I don't know if it happened during the original manufacturing, or when we sent it back for AO repair.  Now I will talk to those who were involved in the purchase and subsequent repair to find out when this happened and try to get this issue resolved.

Thanks,

Bruce

Bruce,

Were you able to talk to those involed in the purchase of this card? Also, do you have the serial number of this product?

Thanks,

Juan,

The serial number for my FPGA module is 00E477F1.  I did talk to the people that were involved with the purchase and later repair of this unit.  It turns out that a PXI-7831R module was originally ordered.  For some reason our module has a PXI-7833R front panel installed on a PXI-7831R.  Since I began working on this project later I naturally assumed that since the front panel said it was a 7833R and that there must be a problem with the installation or MAX.  But we have what we paid for and it is working quite well.

Thanks,

Bruce Barnes
