NI-9205 not reading voltage using Distributed System Manager

No response from two of them on the same 9024 CRIO bus - either with LabVIEW app or using DSM.  Two modules out a the same time?

Hello deanbeer,

Thanks for the post, can you please provide more information regarding your application. Are you using the NI 9205 modules to acquire and log analog data? How are you trying to read the signal using LabVIEW and DSM? Have you tried using some of the shipping examples for the NI 9205 module to see if you can accurately read data from the module? Please post any additional information that may be helpful and take a look at some of the examples under Help>>Find Examples in LabVIEW. Have a great 4th of July!

Hello Paul,

I have been reading analog voltage (0-10 V) just fine for more than a year using either my LV app or DSM.  I upgraded from LV 2009 to LV 2010 and my problems begin.  I updated C-RIO to 3.60 on the target and still no luck.  My analog 9211 (TC's) on the same bus, are reading just fine with either LV or DSM.

Hello deanbeer,

Thanks for the update, are you simply trying to read analog input data from your 9205? Please provide more information about your application or some screenshots so that I have a better understanding of what you are doing. If possible, please try to successfully run some of the shipping examples for the 9205 module to see if you can acquire data in LabVIEW 2010.

Paul,

I have done something with the module since then.  I now have grounded the 17th terminal (DSUB).  Now I have a signal but the voltage swings wildley (if plotted, the swing is sinusodal).  I am measuring 0-10V signal using differential input.  It is unusual to have to ground a differential input, but the wiring schematic depicts this.  Does it really need to be earth ground (as depicted)?

The voltage being measured is dead steady (using a voltmeter) so this swing is in the 9205.

The history of connection problems with the 9205 is too long and involved to describe in these replys.   Should I contact someone in Tech support by phone?

Hey deanbeer,

If you have a service contract with NI you can definitely call the support line to describe you problem by phone. I can also help via forum reply if needed.
