NI 9411 Bad & Good Channels

Have had NI 9411 module working great for DI Chns 0,1. For about three years.

Then those Chns failed to read signals. But Chns 4 & 5 are OK.

Is it OK to move to use Chns 4 & 5 or is it best to just replace the module Ni 9411?

Thanks for advice.

Hi Anthony.

If the signals on Ch4 and 5 are within acceptable limits when you test them I see no issues using them.
I believe each channel on the 9411 has its own receiver circuitry, which is probably what's been damaged here. I do however worry about the longevity of this solution and would recommend planning a repair/replacement of the module depending on it's warranty status.

Hello:

I’ve reasoned the same and have advised the customer.

I repaired the system to use those other working channels, and stated that longevity precaution, and with no guarantees.

The issue is that the parts lead time while in the shopping cart,  for NI 9411, shows 85 days.

Yeah, we're seeing the same issues with all our suppliers at the moment. Lead times are killing us.
