I am using LabView Real-time Desktop 8.6.1. As the PCI slots are limited, I want to use a PCIe ethernet controller. Unfortunately my onboard-chipset "Intel 82567LM" seems to be unsupported at the moment.
The following card has the chipset "Intel® 82574L CT" which is mentioned in the hardware compatibility list:
I am not sure, if this PCIe version is meant by the list. My other question is: Can I update my RT ethernet drivers to 2009 although I use 8.6.1? I already updated my DAQmx to 2009 successfully.
Any other suggestion for buying a (not so expensive) PCIe ethernet card for RT Desktop use?

Hi, i think PCI or PCIe doesn´t matter here, both busses are working with the OS.
Since the adapter that you have mentioned is only about 30 €, I would buy it and just try it out
on LV 8.6.1 RT even it is in the List of chipsets supported by LV 2009. It is difficult to say which chipset will or will not work with Pharlap ETS.
I think in this case it is worth giving it a try.

So only the ethernet chipset counts, not the bus type? Is it possible to update the RT ethernet driver to LabView 2009 as I did for DAQmx before? Will I gain additional chipset support through an update?
For 8.6.1 the compatibility list contains:
Intel® 82571EI
Intel® 82571EB
I could buy a
Intel® 82571GB
for around 70 EUR. The chipset seems to be the same from the list except for the version (?) "GB" instead of "EB". I hope, this hasno impact on compatibility.

I can´t guarantee that a Intel® 82571GB will work, since it is not on the supported chipset list for LV 8.6.1.
If you want to be sure to have a LV 8.6 RT- compatible adapter, you must follow the list. When I see that
Intel anyway provides the same (Windows!) drivers for a whole bunch of chipsets, it is MAYBE the same with the Pharlap drivers, and
the Intel® 82571GB chipset will work. But I cannot say that for sure! There could be other requirements for the chipset that have to be met in order to work with the LabVIEW RT-Module, so the easiest way would be to try it out.
As far as I can see, the update for the ethernet devices does only come with the update of LabVIEW + LabVIEW Realtime (not free of charge).
DAQmx is a independent driver (free of charge) which is not maintained with LabVIEW- Realtime, that´s why you can update it anytime.
I think it´s possible to manually update files and drivers on a Pharlap ETS- OS, but we don´t support this directly.
