Using a lot of IOs make Alias Manager VERY slow

Hi!
I've configured a cRIO system(cRIO-9104) with "a lot" of IOs (about 150 inputs and outputs). When I'm trying to give each channel an alias in the Alias Manager, it takes about 40-60 seconds for the channel list to be updated. It would take me 60s x 150 channels = 150 minutes (2h) to give each channel a unique name, which is totally unacceptable.

Can I edit the alias in another tools instead? I've noticed that the FPGA project file is built in XML. Unfortnualty is the information I want to edit compressed in a string...

Hello Ulf!

I haven't found any similar reported so I had to contact our PSE in the US about this.

He then took his time to try to replicate your issue and therefore he did the following:
  • Created a 9104 project
  • Added 4 - 9425 (32 DI) -128 total DI
  • Added 4- 9476 (32 DO) - 128 total DO
  • Opened Alias Manager
  • Changed names - took ~5 sec each (including typing in a name)

Something else must be wrong with your system. To hack the .lep file is not an ideal solution since our tools works fine (the test he did worked fast as you can see).

Which version of LV are you using, how much free memory do you have, processor and processor speed. What happens if you open an empty project and creates aliases?

You might check his LV version, Free memory on the computer, processor speed, what happens if he opens up an empty project and creates the aliases, etc...

Hi Jimmie!
Thanks for your answer and sorry for the late reply. After rebooting my computer everything works fine, so it must have been memory-problem.
